Homemade and bought spindles

I made stone whorl spindles! (ok, my boyfriend helped) I bought all the supplies on ebay, there are so many stones on offer and so cheap. Also chopsticks and rubber grommet thingies to attach the stones to the sticks. So far I have these two, I'm still waiting for turquoise and opalite whorls. (if you do search on ebay, type in donut bead to see the huge selection). These are not the best or fastest spindles, but so cheap (under $10) and pretty. The chopsticks should be ebony, but it doesn't look like ebony to me. I stained one black using permanent marker topped with dark wood stain. Also, my boyfriend made a notch on the darker whorl... he's so sweet.

Jednu z paliciek som zafarbila ciernou fixkou a navrch som pridala lak na drevo aby sa to cele zafixovalo. Velmi sa mi pacia, aj ked to nie su najlepsie alebo najrychlejsie vretienka, urcite su najkrajsie (aspon pre mna).

I bought this beauty, made by Jesh, from her wonderful little shop. It spins beautifully, and the cracked glass effect on the whorl is amazing. I have this project going on that I take all the leftovers from carding, samples and other random fibers and spin them all together onto this spindle. So far I have 25 grams and the plan for now is to spin 3ply sock yarn and make socks or something out of it. Pretty dreadfull looking socks possibly.

Prekrasne vretienko, od Jesh, z jej obchodika na etsy. Joj velmi sa mi paci ten efekt popraskaneho skla. To ja mam teraz taky projekt totiz, ze nezahadzujem zbytky roznych chlpov, ale ich uchovavam a spriadam na toto vretienko spolu s roznymi vzorkami kadecoho. Plan je zatial, ze spradiem 100g a ze z toho zostrikujem nejake ponozky alebo cosi. Asi velmi skarede ponozky z toho vzniknu...

Socks

for my lovely gran, made using handspun yarn, with a short row heel . Check out this video for simple, no wraps, straightforward heel. Boyfriend modeled these for me, my gran has bigger feet than I have, therefore the socks look huge one me.

pre babicku ponozticky, z rucne spriadanej vlnky. Patu som urobila podla tohto videa. Jednoducha a krasna paticka. Frajer robil modelku, lebo babicka ma ovela vacsie nohy nez ja, takze na mne vyzeraju tieto ponozky obrovske.

Decisions...

I have these two lovely colours on merino/bamboo/silk from the shop, that I'd like to make into Aeolian shawl. I purchased some beads from the local craft store, and I can't decide which yarn to use with the beads... maybe neither...must buy more beads

Mam tieto dve vlnky (merino/bambus/hodvab z obchodu) a chcela by som zacat tentok Aeolian salik. Neviem sa ale rozhodnut, ktoru vlnku pouzit s tymito goralkami, ktore som kupila v corkskom obchode s potrebami pre sikovne ruky rozneho druhu. Moznoze ani jedna vlnka sa nehodi... musim ist kupit viac goralok.

Myslim, ze sa mi paci ta svetlejsia vlnka viac s tymi goralkami, ale zas na druhu stranu sa mi viac paci ta tmavsia vlnka...

Anyway,
this is a yarn I have on my spinning wheel at the moment, it's a Hedgehog Fibres batt, 30% silk, 70% merino and sparkly angelina fibre. Single ply lace weight, again. I think it shows off the colours the best.

Tutok vlnku teraz pradiem na kolovratku, je to Hedgehog Fibres batt, da sa zohnat v mojom obchode. 30% silk, 70% merino a vela ligotavej angeliny. Jednovrstvova a tenka, myslim, ze tak najviac vyniknu farby.

Spinnin'

I've been spinning a lot lately. This one is silk/merino top that I purchased somewhere on ebay in white and dyed it. I think it turned out lovely. I don't know why I dyed only 50 grams and left 50grams white... strange thinking... Thick-ish lace weight, single ply.

Vela pradiem v poslednej dobe. Toto je merino/hodvab casanec, co som kupila niekde na ebay biely a nafarbila. Prevelice sa mi paci. Aj ked neviem, preco som nafarbila len 50gramov a 50gramov som nechala bielych.. divne dost...

And my pride and joy: merino top, Oyster colourway (in the shop at the moment), beautiful. I love good muted pink, barely there colour, dreamy dusty attic sort of thing.

Joooj a totok je nova ponozkova vlnka, 3-vrstvova, z ktorej budu ponozky alebo capica. Je z cesanca ktory je aj v obchode momentalne, vola sa za Oyster. Mam velmi rada obru tlmenu ruzovkastu farbu, taka ze, zaprasena povala u starej mamy.


I have kept one merino top from today's shop update, I couldn't resist. It's destined to be 3ply sock yarn.

Galleyhead trip

Even though it was windy and raining, we decided to take Jurko somewhere nice, because he has been in Ireland for two years and haven't been anywhere or seen anything. Lazyass.

Aj ked prsalo a fukalo, zobrali sme Jurka na vylet, lebo uz je v Irsku dva roky a este nikde nebol a ani nic nevidel. Lenivec.
Yeah, it was super windy. Lola's leash was like a kite and I had few problems with my scarf.
Straaaasne fukalo. Loline voditko sluzilo ako sarkan miestami, a obcas som mala problemy so salom.

But what a lovely scenery.
Ale bolo tam pekne.

Lola had mega blast. I was a bit scared she'll fall off the cliff by mistake. She went totally crazy and ballistic. I guess she hasn't seen so much open space in a while.

Lole sa prevelice pacilo a bezala stale hore dole ako raketa. Asi lebo uz dlho nevidela tolko volneho priestoru a travy. Trosku som sa bala ze spadne z utesu omylom.

We also met this dog. He was there by himself.
Stretli sme tohto psika, ktory tam bol sam.
Lola decided she doesn't like him. Oh well.
Ale Lola sa rozhodla, ze ho nema rada. Co uz.


So we went home.
Tak sme sli domov.

I had to do a trial run, so here is my experimental sample batt I, or as my friend called it a rat-batt... I agree, a bit ratty looking. But so soft and I love gray.

Musela som okamzite vyskusat vretienka, takze som zacala priast z mojho experimentalneho balicka vlny a inych chlpov. Zevraj je to taka mysacia farba... noaco, makka a mam rada sedu.

Phew!

This handspun yarn of mine is finally finished. Took ages, but it was totally worth it. I'm in love with the colour and it is super squishy as well. Fingering weight, 3ply, approx 350m enough forcozy pair of socks.

Konecne je tato moja rucne spriadana vlnka hotova. Trvalo to sice vecnost, ale zato sa to oplatilo. perfektna farba a makkucka, joj. A mam az 350m, dost na ponozky.


My next project will probably be this one.
