busy

I've been so busy last couple of days! Custom dyeing, trying to prepare a substantial shop update and squeezing in some spinning (apart from household chores, cooking and such) . What a feeling. I love being productive. I have two things to keep me organized. My two books. First one is for custom orders and most things shop-related.

Poslednych par dni som sa ani nezastavila. Objednavky, farbenie vlniek do obchodu a popritom som sa snazila aj trochu priast (okrem upratovania, varenia prania a pod.). To je pocit, superproduktivita vysokeho stupna. Dve veci ma drzia nad vodou. Moje dve knizocky. Prva je na objednavky a veci suvisiace s obchodom.


Then there's my general notebook, for ideas, sketches, inspiration. I've made both (which shows) and I've used recycled paper - all the bits of paper and tissue I could find.

Potom mam este knizku na napady, skice a vytrzky z casopisov a tak. Obe knizky som vyrobila (to je aj vidno) a su z recyklovaneho papiera, teda zo vseliakych kuskov roznych papierov, ktore som doma nasla.


I'm trying to finish these singles for maybe a month now. I'm aiming for nice 3ply sock yarn, but ugh, it takes forever. I don't even want to imagine plying...

Tuto nestastnu vlnku pradiem uz asi tak mesiac. Trva to prilis dlho, uz ma to ani nebavi vobec. Ale chcela by som dosiahnut peknu 3vrstvovu ponozkovu vlnku, och...


So to distract myself, I've spun a little sample on my spindle, mohair in natural gray. Lovely and fuzzy, but way too scratchy.

Takyto kusocek som spriadla na mojom vretienku, je to moher. Pekny a chlpaty, ale prilis skrablavy veru.

New yarn bases

I’ve been thinking about introducing heavier weight base yarns to the shop for a some time now. I finally found these two beauties!
Nove vlnky do obchodu, take hrubsie (konecne).

45%cashmere/55%silk, 11wpi, about 200m per 100g, $30
45%kasmir/55%hodvab, okolo 200m na 100g, $30

50%merino/50%silk, 11wpi, about 200m per 100g, $20
50%merino/50%hodvab, okolo 200m na 100g, $20

both types have the same construction, four 2ply strands twisted together, which I found very interesting (I believe this is called cabled yarn).

I am enjoying this knit very much. Simple scarf with random stripes.

Oversized pullover

This was a super quick knit, it took only 10 days in total, from which the tubular cast off I used for all the ribbing took three days. It came out little too big after washing (even though I washed my swatch). I can wear it as a winter dress, it's so long.
I was worried a bit, because the yarn I used (Stylecraft Pure Wool) was a bit scratchy, but it softened nicely after washing and I'm in love with the colour. I used a fat 8mm needle, and held the yarn double.

Super rychly sveter na tucnych 8mm ihliciach, z vlnky Stylecraft Pure wool, ktora bola trosku skrablava, ale celkom zmakla po oprani. Poriadne sa to natiahlo pri prani, ze teraz to mozem nosit ako zimne saty.

I improvised this pattern, it's knit in the round and when I came to armholes I increased for the sleeves and then separated the front and back and continued knitting back and forth. Ribbing was added last (I started with provisional cast on) and I finished off with tubular cast off, which looks wonderful, but is pain to execute and takes forever.

Vzor som vymyslela, zacala som strikovat ruru a potom som rozsirila na rukavy a rozdelila som sveter na prednu a zadnu cast a potom som strikovala tam a spat. Vrubkovanie som spravila na koniec, ukoncene tzv. tubular cast off, co tomu celemu dalo taky pekny okraj.

I am totally sick at the moment, shop updates and all custom orders will be delayed. I am very sorry, hope you'll understand.

I am so relieved it fits! I followed the instructions, I haven't done any modifications, I think. I liked the sweater as it was pictured in the book. Miki likes it very much and wears it constantly (aaah) and he is also impressed by the lack of seams.
I was surprised it only weights 620g. And it's soo warm, yak yarn all the way, my new favourite.

Nastastie som ustrikovala spravnu velkost! Mikimu sedi sveter uplne superne. Velmi sa mu paci a stale ho nosi (esteze). Tiez nechape, ze ako je to mozne ze sveter nema ziadne sviky. Ja som strikovacka magicka, to preto. Ja som bola prekvapena, ze som potrebovala len 620g vlnky. A tiez je uplne teplucky. veru vlnka z jaka je super.


Experimental sample batt II spun into lovely single ply yarn, sort of fingering weight. It sheds like nothing else (I'm starting to dislike alpaca, I shouldn't have included it in the batt), but I like the texture. with lots of nepps and unevenes. It might become simple tank top, to show of the texture.

Experimantalny balicek c.2 som spriadla na jednovrstvovu vlnku. Pusta to chlpy strasne (zacinam nemat rada alpacu, nemala som to tam pridat) ale zato sa mi paci hrbolata textura a farba tiez. Mam taky plan, ze z toho bude take strikovane tricko bez rukavov.


I started a jumper for me, as well. It'll be oversized and short sleeved, made out of chunky yarn (DK held double) on huge 8mm needles, so hopefully a quick knit.

Takze som si zacala aj sveter pre seba, s kratkymi rukavmi a obrovsky. dufam, ze to bude rychlo ustrikovane, pouzivam obrovske, 8mm ihlice.

tu je to polozene na mojej kapsicke na strikovacie projekty, ktoru som si usila. Latka z Ikea.

In todays mail I got these lovelies - linen fibre and ramie (which is chinese nettle I think). I expected that ramie will have more texture and interest, it's shiny and soft almost like silk. Not bad, I just expected something different. Linen is soo nice, it almost looks like hair. I can't wait to make experimental sample batt no. III

dneska som dostala postu a boli v nej tieto super 'chlpy' - lan a ramie, co je vraj cinska prhlava. velmi zaujimave. Lan vyzera uplne ako vlasy.
